FACTS – TIT BITS Derived from the Maa (Masai) word “Empusel, “meaning salty dusty place”.
It covers an area of 392 sq Km or 151 sq m. Located approximately 260 Km or 160 miles from Nairobi in Kajiado district, rift valley province of Kenya. The Amboseli ecosystem stretches to the Kenya – Tanzania border hence, covering a total area of approximately 8000 sq km or 3100 sq m. in 1991, it was declared UNESCO Man and Biosphere reserve.

The major attractions is the dry lake bed (Lake Amboseli) and several oasis of swamps that attract large array wildlife. Amboseli is famed for it’s large herds of elephants but other species of wildlife are seen in the park including birds and reptiles. Africa’s highest Mountain and the world’s highest free-standing, Mt. Kilimanjaro, can be clearly seen from the horizons of Amboseli.

TSAVO WEST NATONAL PARK FACTS – TIT BITS
The Tsavo West National Park really needs NO INTRODUCTION and is known for its large game sanctuary. But to note a few words The Tsavo West National Park is covered in volcanic cones, rocky outcrops and lava flows. The northern part of Tsavo West is the most developed in terms of lodges and infrastructure and has spectacular scenery with a rolling volcanic landscape carpeted in long grass and dense bush.

Tsavo West Park is also the home of the man eaters of Tsavo, the lions which brought the construction of the railway to a standstill. The local people believed that the lions were reincarnated chiefs protesting the invasion of their land by foreigners. A visit to Tsavo West Game Park is best combined with excursions to Chyulu hills National Park and Taita Hills Game Reserve. Other attractions in the vicinity include Lake Jipe.

The main physical features in are Shaitani lava flow , Chyulu hills, Lake Jipe , Lake Chala, Mzima springs, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Chaimu crater, Roaring rocks. With over 600 recorded species of birds, Tsavo West National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise, Lake Jipe being one of the favored sites of migratory birds.
Each year from September to November the Ngulia region becomes the base for a large-scale netting and ringing.

Itinerary Day 1 –
Leave early in the Morning around 7am for your trip to the Amboseli via Emali Oloitoktok road. Weather permitting, your with have a magnificence view of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s Highest and the World’s highest free standing mountain. Proceed to arrive at the lodge / camp in time for lunch. After lunch go for your afternoon game drive. Be back in time to freshen up, dinner, entertainment and sleep over.

Day 2 –
Depart around 6.30am for early morning game drive and be back in time for breakfast. After early breakfast and armed with picnic lunch (Optional) go for a full day game drive with our experienced Driver Guide who will be more than glad to answer all your questions about the animals and the ecosystem itself. Stop in a safe place for your picnic lunch and thereafter continue with you game drive OR leave at 7am for early morning game drive back at around 8.30 am for breakfast, freshen up then depart at around 10.30 am for game drive back to lodge for lunch thereafter at around 3pm go for another game drive be back at the lodge to freshen up, dinner, entertainment and sleep over.

Day 3 –
Wake up in the morning and after breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park. Arrive at the lodge / camp in time for lunch. Freshen up and depart for afternoon game drive in this world famed and one of the largest in Africa. Return back to lodge / camp, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 –
Depart around 6.30am for early morning game drive and be back in time for breakfast. After early breakfast and armed with picnic lunch (Optional) go for a full day game drive with our experienced Driver Guide who will be more than glad to answer all your questions about the animals and the ecosystem itself.
