MASAI MARA FACTS – TIT BITS
The Masai Mara really needs NO INTRODUCTION and is known for its splendors. But to note a few words Recently named as the 8th wonder of the world because of what the experts termed as “the uniqueness of the area and the preservation it provides to so many species living in harmony.” The annual migration” of millions of hooves and paws from Serengeti to the Mara which takes place between July and September is a spectacular event in the Masai Mara.

Masai Mara covers an area of 1600 square kilometers of green rolling countryside with scattered trees, meandering rivers, boarded by dense tropical riverine forest. The area widens more if group ranches around it are added. It boost of the most densely populated area with wildlife per square kilometer and has over 90 species of mammals and over 450 species of birds and still counting.

“The Mara” as it is popularly known, joins the Serengeti National park in Tanzania and together, forms an ecological system comprising one of the world’s finest wildlife sanctuaries. It is 290Km (approximately 5 hours drive) from Nairobi by road through the beautiful scenery of the Great Rift Valley, down the valley itself with the majestic Mt Longonot (which will be to your left hand side as you go and right as you return) to the town of Narok which is 70km to the World famous Masai mara. 45 – 50 minutes by air from Wilson airport Nairobi is all you need to reach this famous natural wonder of the world.

ITINERARY DAY 10800 hrs-
Depart to Wilson Airport in Nairobi (at Own arrangement) for your flight to depart for Mara ETD 1000hrs. Check in 1 hour prior to departure.

1100hrs-
ETA at Olkiombo airstrip in Mara, transferred to club. Check in, relax, refresh. Lunch at club

1600 hrs-
Depart for evening Game drive (shared vehicle) with the club’s specially designed Land rover with professional guide to view wild game which has made mara a jewel.

1700 hrs-
Return back to the club in time to freshen up and dinner. Overnight at MIC

DAY 2
0630 hrs-
Depart for early morning game drive before breakfast for game viewing (weather permitting) for approx 1 hr. return to club for breakfast (you can request for a wakeup call with tea or coffee at the reception)

1000 hrs-
Depart for morning game drive. To return around 1100hrs in time for lunch at MIC, relax and enjoy the club’s facilities and educational centre.

1600 hrs
Transferred to airstrip for your Nairobi bound flight ETA

1700 hrs
At Wilson airport.
